Library Media
Welcome to the Nyack Middle School Global Learning Commons
The Global Learning Commons is a welcoming place for all students. We have a variety of print and non-print resources to meet both academic and personal needs. Students should be engaged in something productive, working independently or in small groups, doing classwork or homework, or reading or studying. The library has print materials, non-print materials, electronic resources, and more available for all students.
No food or drinks are permitted in the GLC (Water is allowed).
From the Librarian
Welcome
Hello and Welcome Back! The goals for the Global Learning Commons are to assist all students on their way to becoming 21st-century learners by creating a safe, inviting space that welcomes all and supports equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Borrowing Items
Students may check out up to two books for a period of two weeks. All books may be renewed unless requested by another student or teacher.
Overdue Books/Lost or Missing Items
Notice of an overdue book is first sent to the student. Students should ask to renew the book if they need more time with it or return it immediately. If a book or other item that is property of the library is lost or damaged, the library will send an email or letter home. Students/Parents/Guardians have the option to replace the item with a new one directly to the library, or a check can be made out to Nyack Public Schools for the cost of the item so that it may be replaced. Students/Parents/Guardians should contact the librarian with any questions.
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns about anything, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

ILL & COSER

ILL stands for Interlibrary Loan. This is the process for borrowing books between libraries. Librarians can request items for students or teachers that they may not have in their own library.
COSER is an acronym for COoperative SERvice and is a regional educational support program housed at a BOCES in New York State. This allows participating schools to purchase books with state funds. These books are housed at each library and are available to all schools through interlibrary loan. Books are strictly non-fiction and each school is assigned a range of Dewey Decimal numbers they can order books from. This avoids all schools purchasing the same items.
If we don’t have a book here, we can try to get it from another library! Just ask the librarian!
