This year we have a lot of exciting poems, short stories and novels that we will be reading.   We will be using literary elements, poetic devices; we will interpret text and make inferences at the secondary level. Some of the novels we will be reading are: The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton, Fever 1793 by Laurie Halse Anderson and The Giver by Lois Lowry.  We will be working  with our  students hone their writing skills and grammar, specifically their ability to organize a creative piece, use craft and structure.  We will be working on: Narrative Writing, Thesis Writing, Research Writing and Argumentative Writing.

Math 7 is a course designed for all seventh grade students. All students are expected to work hard in and out of class to improve their math ability. We will cover a variety of topics with a goal to increase our content skills and problem solving strategies. The course will follow the NYS Common Core 7th grade curriculum but will also go more in depth on certain topics.  We will also be increasing our focus on literacy in the math classroom.

This year  we will be discovering  authentic and relevant applications for physical science in your life.    We will be approaching  science with 21^st century learning skills  such as: Critical Thinking, Collaboration, Creativity and Communication.  Students will also be working on improving their executive functions such as: time management, scheduling  and assignment completion in the classroom.

Welcome to 7^th grade Social Studies where we will be traveling back in time to explore American History.  We will begin with the founding of the Americas and early North American civilizations and finish with the reconstruction of the United States after the Civil War.
